Wine:

Originating from several parcels in the village of Pierreclos, on the higher, stony parts, the 2022 white Mâcon-Pierreclos once again delivers the quintessence of Chardonnay. It is a pure expression of the limestone terroir of Les Cras, known for its complexity and finesse, artfully fermented and vinified in wood. This process results in a rich aromatic palette revealing a well-ripened Chardonnay, free of stylistic heaviness, with a subtle woodiness and notes of toasted bread. The juice is full and harmonious, creating a beautifully voluminous ensemble with integrated acidity and fine bitters that add tension, rated 94/100 by the Committee.

Vinification:

Hand harvested. Blend of several plots in the village of Pierreclos (vines over 50 years old) with low yields.
A unique selection of 1st juices from the press. Vinification under wood for 8 months, on lees for 7 months.

Color:

Pale, bright golden yellow.

Nose:

Aromas of exotic fruits underlined by peach, with a halo of pepper.

Palate:

Dense and structured, this wine delivers a rich, full-bodied, fresh, acidic, well-balanced juice.

Temperature:

Serve between 8 and 10°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Baked or en papillote fish, cheese platter, dry goat's cheese.

Maison Verget, a stalwart in Burgundy, ranks among our favorite addresses with whom we have formed strong relationships. We've even developed custom cuvées, blended by Olivier Poussier, Best Sommelier in the World, and exclusively reserved for our members.

Now overseen by the excellent Julien Desplans, who has been making the selections since 2016, following in the footsteps of Jean-Marie Guffens, Verget continues to uphold the Burgundian style, boasting white wines with sharp, slender, and very fresh profiles, as well as equally successful reds focused on fruit. Defying time just like the great Burgundies, these wines consistently rank at the top.
