Founded in 2011 by Michel Chevré, former vineyard manager for the renowned Thierry Germain, Clos de l’Écotard has quickly become one of the Loire Valley’s most respected estates.
Today, Michel and his son Thibaud craft some of the purest, most vibrant wines in the region, working with organic farming to produce terroir-driven cuvées of remarkable precision and finesse, masterfully aged in barrels or amphorae.

Blended from three parcels of sandy and limestone soils, the 2022 Red Saumur offers a smooth, refined expression of Cabernet Franc, with a beautiful touch of tuffeau minerality and fresh fruit aromas. This is a charming, approachable red, crafted with precision—short maceration ensures delicate tannins and a crisp, vibrant character. The estate’s signature style shines through, with barrel aging (without new oak) and jar maturation, bringing clarity, finesse, and energy to the wine. Rated 93/100 by RVF. |
